So you've hit your limit?

Claude Code comes with your subscription, and a subscription has usage caps that top back up over time. If it tells you you've hit your limit, nothing's broken and you've done nothing wrong. Here's the score.

What's actually happening

Your plan gives you a pool of usage that refills on a rolling basis. A big session, a lot of long files, heavy back-and-forth, all draw it down faster. When it's gone, it tells you, and it comes back after the reset window. Your work, your files and your setup are all untouched, it's just paused.

What to do about it

Wait it out. The simplest answer. It resets on its own, come back later and carry on exactly where you left off.
Pace the big jobs. If you've a heavy day coming, do the chunky work in passes rather than one marathon, and it lasts longer.
If you're hitting it constantly, that's worth a word with Andre, a bigger plan might suit how you're using it.

See your usage at a glance

Andre runs a wee tool that shows, right in his Claude Code status line, which model he's on, his effort level, and how long until his token window resets, so he's never caught out by it. You can have the same: grab the script, hand the whole file to your assistant, and say "adapt this so my status line shows my model, effort, and time to reset." It wires to your own account, nothing leaves your machine. Completely optional — your call whether to put it in.
